Google values honest and balanced reviews because they help other customers decide.<\/p>\n<p>Give staff one short line they can use, and time the ask after the service has been completed or the order has been opened. A simple point to the review card on the counter is often enough. The line can be as plain as asking the customer to scan the code when they get a moment, and saying the card on the counter takes them straight to the Google page. If the customer is holding bags or the counter is busy, let them pass. The ask lands better when the customer can spare one hand and the trip is still fresh in their mind.<\/p>\n<p>Google prohibits offering incentives, such as discounted goods, services or gifts, in exchange for reviews. The same applies to incentives to change a review or remove a negative one.<\/p>\n<p>The ACCC explains that reviews can mislead under Australian consumer law when they come from family, employees or paid reviewers without a disclosed connection, when the writer has not used the product or service, or when someone edits them after they are written. Suppressing or editing negative reviews, or removing genuine negative reviews, can also mislead. If you offer an incentive for reviews on another channel, it must apply whether the review is positive or negative and must be clearly disclosed. Google&#8217;s own rule is stricter, with no incentives at all for reviews on Google.<\/p>\n<p>When you reply, keep it polite, clear, short and professional.
