Sponsor Banners for Sports Clubs: Sizes, Logos and the Season Plan

The season draw is out, the sponsors are signed, and the logo files are arriving in a dozen different formats. The sponsor banners are the one part of every arrangement that players, families and visiting teams will see at every home game, so the size, material and artwork choices have to be settled before round one.

This guide covers the decisions for Australian club volunteers: one sign per sponsor or a shared board, vinyl or mesh, what to ask each sponsor for, and how to count backwards from the first home game. You can order banners one at a time, and the price updates on the page as you select each option, before payment.

The short version

  • Give each major sponsor their own banner, or group smaller supporters on one shared thank you board.
  • Vinyl runs from 1220 x 760mm through to 4000 x 1000mm; mesh comes in 2400 x 1600mm or 1600 x 2400mm for exposed fences.
  • Ask for a vector logo, or use the Redraw Logo service when the sponsor only has a blurry file.
  • Pick a ready layout and add the sponsor’s details, or supply print ready artwork.
  • A PDF proof lands in your inbox before printing; vinyl takes 4 to 5 working days and mesh takes 2 to 4 working days after approval.
  • Standard delivery is $15, express is $60, and pickup from Oakleigh South is available at no charge.

What sponsor banners deliver for a sports club sponsorship

The sponsor paying for a fence sign gets something visible all season. Players, families, visitors and photo takers see the business name every home game without the club doing extra promotional work. That makes the banner the part of the deal a sponsor can point to when they check what their money bought.

A clear sponsorship package stops the expectation from drifting. Put the banner details in writing, and include a short list:

  • Banner size and where on the fence or wall it will sit.
  • The round or date it will be in place and how long it stays up.
  • Who supplies the logo and the final date the club needs it.
  • Who pays for a replacement banner if a ball or a storm damages it.
  • What happens if the sponsor changes its name or logo mid season: they cover the replacement banner, or the current sign stays up until the end of the arranged term.

You can confirm the available sizes, materials and finishing options on the sponsor banners page before you promise anything to a sponsor. To plan the whole game-day print run, including canteen and gate signs, use the season print kit alongside the fence order.

Choosing between separate sponsor signs and a shared board

Not every sponsor needs the same presence. A major sponsor gets their own banner with a logo, business name, a single line about what they do and contact details. Smaller supporters can share one THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS layout, where the club crest and name sit above a grid of sponsor logo panels.

Position matters more than size. A banner near the canteen gets attention from families waiting in line. An entry gate sign is seen by everyone coming in. Behind the goals or nets faces the players, while a sign on the main viewing side faces the crowd. The layout choice follows the position: a big single logo near the viewing area, a shared board near the entry or canteen.

On the ordering page, one design is one cart line. Five sponsors means five cart lines, each with that sponsor’s logo and details. For a shared board, put several logos together in one ZIP file. Choose a ready layout or upload your own artwork and name the club colours in the details box. For a fill-in layout, a design set-up fee is added to the own artwork price, and the product page shows the figure while you pick the options.

Sports banners: sizes and materials for a fence or wall

Size (W x H)MaterialGood for
1220 x 760mmVinylA canteen wall or clubroom sign
2000 x 1000mmVinylA fence behind goals or nets
3000 x 1000mmVinylA long boundary fence
4000 x 1000mmVinylA wide boundary fence or main sponsor
2400 x 1600mmMeshA temporary or exposed fence
1600 x 2400mmMeshA tall fence panel

For a long boundary fence, choose the 3000 x 1000mm or 4000 x 1000mm vinyl banner. A 2000 x 1000mm banner fits behind goals or nets, and the 1220 x 760mm size works on a canteen or clubroom wall.

The material holds the banner together through a season of weather. 610gsm vinyl is a heavy duty, tear resistant, water resistant and UV resistant material. It works well in sheltered spots such as a wall, a barrier, or a fence protected from strong wind. The 300gsm perforated PVC mesh has small vents that let air through, so it suits exposed, windy fences and temporary construction fencing. Compare the two options in the mesh vs vinyl guide if the fence is temporary or catches a lot of wind.

Club banners for registrations, events and the club name

Sponsors are not the only signs on the fence. The Club banner layout puts the club crest on a slanted colour panel, with HOME OF THE above the club name. The design also carries the ground name or the year the club was established, along with the club website. Before the season, the Registrations open layout carries the headline REGISTRATIONS NOW OPEN, then space for the relevant age groups or competitions, the season dates or a sign up day, the website, and a QR code panel marked SCAN TO REGISTER. The club supplies the web link the code opens. An Event fence banner suits a fete, carnival or presentation day with the event name, date and time, venue and a three-space event sponsors strip.

Whichever club layout you choose, the team sets the colours to match your club. The ready layouts appear in navy and gold on screen, but you can name your club colours in the details box and the proof will show the change. The same colour matching applies to sponsor layouts, so the banner sits naturally with the rest of the club signage.

Logo artwork that stays sharp from the boundary

A sponsor logo that looks fine on a phone screen may fall apart at two metres wide. Ask each sponsor for the same simple set of files and details. Build a checklist before the order goes in:

  • Vector logo file, not a small JPEG from the website.
  • Exact business name, spelled the way it should appear.
  • One short line describing what the business offers.
  • A phone number or website address.
  • A deadline for getting all of this to you.

Keep the words few and large. A boundary fence sign is read from a distance, so a phone number and one short line work better than a paragraph. Strong contrast between the logo colour and the banner background helps more than extra information.

If the sponsor sends a blurry or small image, it will print soft at banner size. Redraw Logo rebuilds a solid colour logo as a crisp vector file for $29.90. Artwork Fix is $19.90 for refining an editable design, and Custom design is $49.90. With that service, the first proof presents a pair of design options, and the project includes three rounds of revisions. Before approval, go over the PDF proof line by line to confirm each phone number and web address is correct.

Season timeline: count backwards from the first home game

Start the countdown from the first home fixture. The artwork team checks the file and sends a PDF proof within 1 to 2 business days. Once you approve it, vinyl banners need 4 to 5 working days and mesh banners need 2 to 4 working days in production. Delivery adds time and depends on the destination, so leave a buffer instead of promising a sponsor a specific delivery day.

Order every sponsor banner in one batch so the fence looks complete from round one. Standard delivery is $15 and express is $60 per order Australia wide, or arrange pickup from the Oakleigh South studio at no charge. When the banners arrive, fasten them with cable ties or rope through the eyelets. The hang a vinyl banner instructions show the eyelet and rope method in more detail.

When a sponsor signs on again with the same logo, the club can supply the same artwork or details for the next season’s order. An upgrade from a shared board to a full banner means adding another cart line for that sponsor’s artwork. If a sponsor leaves, the club can drop that line and leave the remaining signs in place, or update the shared board with a replacement logo for the next print run.

First home game is the fixed point; every banner, proof and order works backwards from there.

Frequently asked questions

What size sponsor banner should a club use on a ground fence?

The 3000 x 1000mm and 4000 x 1000mm vinyl banners suit long boundary runs, while a 2000 x 1000mm banner works behind goals or nets. A 1220 x 760mm vinyl sign fits a canteen or clubroom wall. On an open fence, mesh is available in a landscape shape at 2400 x 1600mm or a portrait shape at 1600 x 2400mm. The holes let air move through, which reduces the pull in strong wind.

Should the club choose mesh or vinyl for a fence banner?

610gsm vinyl is a heavy, tear resistant material that handles water and UV exposure. It reads as a solid block of colour and works for walls, barriers, and fences that are protected from high wind. The 300gsm perforated PVC mesh is different: small holes let air through, so it suits exposed or temporary fencing. If the ground is open and windy all winter, mesh is likely the safer option.

How do we order banners for several sponsors?

Treat each sponsor as its own cart line. A club with five sponsors adds five lines, each carrying that sponsor’s logo and details at the upload step. For a shared THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS board, upload all the logos together as one ZIP file. The team then lays out the designs, emails a PDF proof, and waits for your approval before anything prints.

What should the club do if a sponsor’s logo is blurry or low resolution?

Start by asking the sponsor for the original vector file. If they only have a small or compressed image, Redraw Logo can turn a solid colour logo into a crisp vector file for $29.90. A low resolution logo will print soft at banner size, so it is worth fixing before the first proof, not after the sign is on the fence.

What does a sponsor banner cost?

Own artwork on 610gsm vinyl starts at $96.02 for a 1220 x 760mm banner with hemmed edges. A 2000 x 1000mm banner with clear eyelets is $133.28. The 3000 x 1000mm option is $187.47 and the 4000 x 1000mm is $228.80. All prices include GST. A fill-in ready layout adds a set-up charge per design on top of the own artwork price, and the page shows that amount as you choose options.

How long does it take to get the banners made?

The team checks the artwork and sends a PDF proof within 1 to 2 business days. After you approve the proof, vinyl banners take 4 to 5 working days and mesh banners take 2 to 4 working days in production. Delivery is separate and depends on the destination. Standard delivery is $15, express is $60, and pickup from Oakleigh South is available at no charge.
