Large Format Stickers: Walls, Windows and Floor Graphics

When a small sticker won’t do the job, large format stickers step in. Sized to fill walls, windows, floors, and vehicle panels, they let a business brand a physical space without permanent paint or costly signage installation. The result is high-visibility, removable marketing that goes up fast and looks professional from day one.

Large format stickers are not simply bigger versions of the stickers on your packaging. They are a distinct product category with different material requirements, adhesive strengths, and laminate options depending on where they are applied. Getting those choices right is the difference between a graphic that holds up for an entire campaign season and one that starts peeling at the corners after a few weeks.

This guide covers the main applications, the material options available from Paperlust Print Shop’s large format stickers, and the sizing and installation decisions that determine whether a project delivers the result you need.

What Makes a Sticker “Large Format”?

Standard stickers top out around 100-150mm across, sized for product labels, packaging, and small promotional applications. Large format stickers are the next tier: display-sized graphics made for visual impact at a distance. A 200x200mm decal on a fridge door qualifies. So does a 600x900mm wall graphic for a trade show booth or a branded floor arrow in a shopping centre aisle.

What defines large format in practice is the application context. These stickers are placed where foot traffic, customers, or passing vehicles will see them. They need to hold up to regular cleaning, physical contact, UV exposure, and in the case of floor graphics, direct foot traffic. The materials and laminates used reflect those demands.

Paperlust Print Shop’s large format stickers are available in standard sizes including 200x200mm, 600x200mm, and 600x900mm, with custom dimensions available for projects that fall outside those formats. All are die-cut, so the final shape can follow your design outline rather than being limited to a rectangle.

Applications: Where Large Format Stickers Work Best

Wall Graphics

Vinyl wall stickers transform a blank wall into a branded feature. They are a practical choice for retail stores, offices, gyms, cafes, and event spaces where a painted mural or permanent signage installation is not feasible. White vinyl delivers the most accurate colour reproduction because the opaque base prevents the wall colour from affecting the print.

Hi-tack adhesive is the better option on brick, render, or rough-textured surfaces where standard adhesive will not grip reliably. For temporary campaigns or leased premises, removable adhesive options allow clean removal without damaging the surface. Confirm the adhesive type when ordering if end-of-lease removal is a requirement.

Window Decals

Clear vinyl is the natural choice for window graphics. The transparent film lets light and the view behind show through, so only the printed design is visible rather than a solid white backing. This works well for logos, promotional messaging, trading hours, directional information, and frosted-effect panels.

For full opaque coverage, such as privacy screening or a solid-colour design without any transparency, white vinyl blocks the background entirely. Both materials work on glass; the choice comes down to whether you want the environment behind the window to show through.

Paperlust’s clear stickers use durable clear vinyl film with UV-resistant eco-solvent inks, making them a reliable option for windows that receive direct sun throughout the day. A gloss laminate upgrade is available for extra durability.

Floor Graphics

Floor graphics are one of the most in-demand large format applications across retail, hospitality, events, and public facilities. Common uses include directional arrows, branded zones at checkout areas, promotional spots at high-traffic locations, and safety wayfinding in warehouses or construction sites.

The non-negotiable for commercial floor graphics is the anti-slip laminate. In any public or commercial setting in Australia, floor graphics must meet slip resistance requirements under AS/NZS 4586:2013. For general indoor use on smooth floors, an R10-rated laminate is the standard minimum. Wet areas, outdoor walkways, or rough surfaces call for R11 or higher. Specify the anti-slip requirement when ordering so the correct laminate is applied before dispatch.

As a general guide, indoor floor decals in high-traffic areas have a service life of around six months. Outdoor floor graphics exposed to weather tend to require more frequent replacement. Planning for seasonal changeovers is standard practice for promotional floor installations.

Vehicle Decals

Large format vinyl cut to a vehicle panel size delivers mobile advertising at a one-time print cost. For company cars or trade vehicles where removability matters, magnetically attached panels are the common solution. For semi-permanent fleet branding, adhesive large format vinyl provides a durable, weather-resistant result.

UV resistance and weatherproofing are the key specs to confirm with your supplier for any vehicle application. Paperlust’s white vinyl and hi-tack white vinyl are both weatherproof and fade-resistant.

Choosing Your Vinyl Material

The three material options from Paperlust Print Shop each suit different applications:

MaterialBest ForAdhesive
White VinylWall graphics, opaque window coverage, vehicle panelsStandard permanent
Hi-Tack White VinylBrick, render, concrete, textured or rough surfacesHigh-tack permanent
Clear VinylWindow decals, glass doors, transparent applicationsStandard permanent

For floor graphics, an anti-slip laminate overlay is applied over the printed vinyl as a separate production step. This needs to be specified at the time of ordering.

If your design requires a custom contoured shape rather than a straight-edged rectangle, die-cut stickers from Paperlust Print Shop support precision contour cutting to your exact outline with accuracy to within 0.5mm, and are available up to 295x425mm for smaller custom-shape applications.

Sizing Your Project

Getting the dimensions right before submitting files avoids the most common reprint scenario. A few practical guides by application:

  • Wall graphics: measure the full area, then subtract 20-50mm on each edge to allow for trim, door frames, and fixtures
  • Window coverage: measure the glazed panel area only, not the surrounding frame
  • Floor arrows and paths: aim for 400-600mm wide to be legible at standing height in a corridor or aisle
  • Focal point wall features: the 600x900mm format works well as a single branded element in a small-to-medium retail space

For non-standard dimensions, contact the Paperlust team with your measurements. Custom sizing is available beyond the three standard formats listed on the product page.

Installation in Five Steps

Large format stickers require a clean, dry surface to bond properly. Follow these steps for a clean result:

Step 1. Clean the surface

Wipe with a damp cloth and dry completely. Remove dust, grease, and any adhesive residue from previous graphics. For walls, a mild all-purpose cleaner works well; for glass, a lint-free glass cloth gives the cleanest result.

Step 2. Allow paint to cure

If the surface has been recently painted, allow at least two to four weeks before applying vinyl. Fresh paint releases solvents during curing that prevent vinyl adhesive from bonding correctly.

Step 3. Position before committing

Peel a small section of backing and align the sticker carefully before committing. For large pieces, have a second person hold the opposite end while you position. A small, misaligned graphic is manageable to reposition; a 600x900mm piece is not.

Step 4. Apply with a squeegee

Work from the centre outward, pressing firmly to push air pockets toward the edges. A squeegee or a flat-edged card works well. Avoid working inward from the edges, which traps air in the middle.

Step 5. Allow adhesive to set

Leave wall and window graphics for at least 24 hours before wiping the surrounding area. Allow 24 hours before foot traffic on floor graphics for the adhesive to bond fully to the floor surface.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are large format stickers suitable for outdoor use?

White vinyl and hi-tack white vinyl are weatherproof and fade-resistant, making them suitable for outdoor walls, windows, and vehicles. For outdoor floor graphics, an outdoor-rated anti-slip laminate is required, and a shorter service life compared to indoor applications should be factored into your planning.

Can large format stickers be removed without damaging walls?

Standard vinyl adhesive is semi-permanent. Removal from painted drywall in good condition is generally clean. Removal from freshly painted, powder-coated, or delicate surfaces carries more risk of surface damage. If clean removability is important for your project, discuss removable adhesive options with the Paperlust team before ordering.

What file format do I need to supply?

Paperlust Print Shop accepts PDF, SVG, or Adobe Illustrator files. Fonts should be outlined, images embedded, and files should include 3mm bleed and crop marks. A free design review is included with every order.

What is hi-tack vinyl and when should I use it?

Hi-tack vinyl uses a stronger adhesive formulation than standard vinyl. It is recommended for surfaces with texture, porosity, or irregularity, including brick, rendered concrete, rough-painted timber, and textured panels. On smooth walls, glass, and flat vehicle surfaces, standard vinyl adhesion is sufficient.

How long does production take?

Large format stickers are produced in 3-4 working days after proof approval. Flat-rate shipping Australia-wide is included with every order.

Can I order a custom size that is not listed on the website?

Yes. The standard formats (200x200mm, 600x200mm, 600x900mm) cover common applications, but custom dimensions are available. Contact the Paperlust Print Shop team with your requirements to discuss sizing and pricing.
