Frequently Asked Questions
What is the minimum order for die-cut labels?
The minimum order is 1 roll of 500 labels. Labels are supplied in roll format for efficient hand or machine application.
What materials are available?
Premium white cast paper (for dry environments) and synthetic paper (water-resistant, for moisture-exposed products). Both are available with optional gloss or matte laminate finish for additional protection and finish quality.
What is the difference between cast paper and synthetic labels?
Cast paper is a standard bright-white label stock ideal for dry storage conditions. Synthetic paper is water-resistant and tear-resistant — the correct choice for products in refrigerated conditions, humid environments, or any application involving moisture or condensation. Using cast paper on refrigerated products will result in label lifting and peeling.
How long does production take?
Standard die-cut labels on cast or synthetic paper: 2-3 working days after design proof approval. Foil labels: 4-5 working days. A proof is included with every order and sent before we proceed.
Can you cut labels to any shape?
Yes. Die-cut labels can be cut to any shape provided as a vector dieline in your artwork file. Common shapes include ovals, circles, custom silhouettes, and modified rectangles. Supply your dieline in 100% magenta spot colour on a separate layer in your artwork file.
Do I need to supply a dieline?
Yes. A dieline is mandatory for die-cut label production. It must be a vector path in 100% magenta spot colour on a separate top layer in your artwork file. If you do not have a dieline, contact our team — we can create one from your artwork for a small fee.
Are your labels suitable for food packaging?
Yes. Choose the correct stock for your application: cast paper for dry pantry goods and non-refrigerated products; synthetic paper for refrigerated, chilled, or moisture-exposed products. Ensure your artwork complies with any applicable food labelling regulations before submitting.
What format should I provide my artwork to you in?
File Type
We prefer artwork in PDF, SVG and Adobe Illustrator formats. Please add 3mm bleed and crop marks whenever possible.
Fonts & Artworks
Make sure all fonts are outlined/vectorized, and all images/artwork embedded.
Dieline
Dieline needs to be in 100% Magenta Spot Colour and placed on the top layer.
Will I receive a design proof before it's printed?
Yes we will send a final design proof to your email. We will not proceed to print until we receive your design approval.

Die-Cut Labels vs. Stickers: Understanding the Difference
The distinction matters when choosing the right product. Die-cut stickers are standalone graphic items designed to be displayed on surfaces — notebooks, laptops, vehicles, or equipment — as a decoration or brand mark. Die-cut labels are designed to be applied to products — jars, bottles, pouches, boxes, and packaging — as a functional identifier carrying product name, ingredients, usage instructions, branding, or compliance information.
Labels are produced in rolls for efficient hand or machine application. If your goal is to brand a product for retail, direct-to-consumer sale, or professional distribution, you want labels. If you already use our sticker range and are looking for the packaging companion, this is it.
Label Materials: Choosing the Right Stock
Two base materials are available, with optional laminate finish:
- White Cast Paper: Bright white, smooth surface, excellent colour accuracy. Best for pantry goods, candles, gift items, and dry retail products.
- Synthetic Paper: Water-resistant, tear-resistant, moisture-proof. Best for beverages, refrigerated food, bath and body, and cleaning products.
- + Gloss Laminate: Enhanced colour vibrancy and surface protection. Best for colour-forward brands, premium retail, and high-handling products.
- + Matte Laminate: Non-reflective, premium tactile finish, fingerprint-resistant. Best for cosmetics, premium food, and minimalist or luxury brand aesthetics.
For products stored in refrigerated conditions, exposed to condensation, or handled with wet hands, synthetic paper is the correct choice. Cast paper labels lift and peel at the edges in high-moisture environments — a common and avoidable problem for food and beverage producers who choose the wrong stock.
Custom Die-Cut Shapes
Die-cut means cut to shape — not limited to rectangles or standard circles. A custom die-cut label can follow the contour of your logo, be shaped to fit a specific container, or carry a distinctive silhouette that sets your product apart on the shelf. Common shapes include:
- Ovals: The classic choice for wine, beer, and beverage labels — a shape that reads as premium across many product categories.
- Circles: Popular for round jars, lids, bottle caps, and compact packaging.
- Custom silhouettes: Logo shapes, illustrated characters, shields, badges, and brand-specific forms that become part of the product identity.
- Modified rectangles: Rounded corners, cut corners, flag-cut edges, or tombstone tops that distinguish the label format without the complexity of a full custom shape.
Food and Beverage Labels
Food and beverage producers are the most common users of die-cut product labels. Small-batch condiment makers, artisan food producers, craft breweries, cold-pressed juice brands, candle makers, and specialty coffee roasters all need labels that match the quality of what is inside the packaging.
- Refrigerated products, beverages, and anything stored in a cool room or fridge: synthetic paper. Condensation will lift cast paper labels within weeks.
- Dry pantry goods, candles, gift hamper products: cast paper delivers bright, colour-accurate output at lower cost per label.
- Products handled frequently or stored in humid conditions: add a laminate finish (gloss or matte) for protection against handling and minor moisture exposure.
Cosmetics and Beauty Labels
Skincare, cosmetics, bath, and body products need label stock that resists the oils, moisture, and handling of daily use. Synthetic label stock is the standard choice for any product that will sit in a bathroom, be handled with wet hands, or stored in humid conditions.
Matte laminate complements the premium aesthetic expected in the cosmetics category and resists fingerprint marks. Gloss laminate suits colour-forward labels where vibrancy and sheen are central to the brand identity.
Retail Packaging and Product Branding
For retail brands across categories — artisan food, homewares, gifts, accessories, stationery, and specialty goods — die-cut labels are the most cost-effective way to elevate generic packaging into branded retail-ready presentation. A well-designed label on a kraft box, glass jar, or clear pouch signals professionalism to the buyer and differentiates your product in a competitive retail environment.
Labels in roll format are efficient to apply by hand at small production volumes and compatible with semi-automated label applicators as your production scale grows.
Minimum Order and Roll Format
Die-cut labels are supplied in rolls with a minimum order of 1 roll (500 labels). Roll format speeds up application significantly compared to sheet-format labels: consistent unwind tension, no sheet separation, and direct application from the roll to the product. For businesses applying labels by hand at moderate volumes, a 500-label roll is a practical starting quantity. For larger production runs, additional rolls can be ordered in the same order.
Artwork Requirements for Die-Cut Labels
Label artwork must include two elements: a print layer and a cut path (dieline).
- Dieline: A vector path defining the cut shape, supplied in 100% magenta spot colour on a separate top layer. This is mandatory — without a dieline, your artwork cannot be cut to shape.
- Print artwork: Supplied at 300dpi minimum, with 3mm bleed extending beyond the dieline on all sides.
- File formats: PDF, AI, EPS, or SVG. Outline all fonts. Embed all images.
If your product requires regulatory labelling (food, cosmetics, health products), ensure your artwork complies with applicable requirements before submitting — we print as supplied. Not design-ready? Ask about our artwork and design services at checkout.
Production and Delivery
Standard production for die-cut labels on cast or synthetic paper is 2-3 working days after design proof approval. Foil labels require 4-5 working days. A design proof is included with every order and sent via email before we proceed to print.

Other Label Finishes
Die-cut labels are the right choice when the design needs to follow a logo outline, character shape, or any contour that falls outside standard rectangles, circles, and ovals. They suit premium packaging, branded merchandise, and retail products where the label shape is part of the brand identity. For more common formats that work across most applications, the rest of the label range is available. Circle labels are the standard option for jar lids, bottle caps, and round seals. Oval labels offer a soft, boutique silhouette for artisan jars and food ranges.
Square labels work well for boxed goods and compact cartons. Rectangle labels are the go-to for wine bottles, soap bars, and skincare tubes. For packaging that calls for a metallic finish, foil labels deliver gold, silver, and rose gold shine. When a transparent, no-label effect suits the container, clear labels are the clean choice.
