What is a box frame, and what makes it different from a standard picture frame?
A box frame uses a deep timber box instead of a flat frame profile. The box creates a shadow-line depth between the Perspex glazing and the back wall of the frame, giving the finished piece a three-dimensional, gallery-quality appearance on the wall. Our box frames have a 33mm shadow-line depth and a 20mm timber face. A standard picture frame sits flat against the wall with no depth; a box frame stands away from it and casts a visible shadow, which adds dimension. Is there a mount or mat inside the box frame?

Is the glazing glass or Perspex?
All our box frames use Perspex glazing, not glass. Perspex is shatterproof and ship-safe, which makes it the right choice for a product that ships fully assembled. It also eliminates the angle-glare problem that flat glass creates when a piece is hung opposite a window or light source. Perspex is lighter than glass of equivalent thickness, which reduces the overall weight of the frame on the wall.
What frame colours are available?
Box frames are available in three colours: Black, White and Natural. All three are priced identically at every size, so the colour choice is entirely visual. Black suits high-contrast photography, bold illustration and strong graphic prints. White is a neutral that suits most artwork and recedes against a white wall. Natural is hand-stained timber that shows the wood grain and suits earthy, warm or nature-themed prints. Select your preferred colour when placing your order.
What sizes do you offer?

All sizes are available in all three frame colours at the same price. Sizes refer to the print area inside the box. The outer frame is slightly larger due to the 20mm timber face.
Does the box frame arrive ready to hang?
Yes. Every box frame ships fully assembled with hanging hardware included: a Cobra hook is fitted to the back of every size we sell, so it arrives ready to go on the wall. There is nothing to assemble, frame or fit before hanging. This is different from our canvas prints, which do not include hanging hardware. All you supply is the wall-side fitting: a hook, nail or picture-rail fitting suited to your wall type and the weight of the piece.
What file resolution do I need for a sharp box frame print?
For best results, upload a photo or artwork file at a minimum of 150 DPI at your intended print size. Most smartphone photos taken in the last four or five years contain enough pixel data for sizes up to A3 or 40x50cm without visible loss of quality. For larger sizes such as A2, 50x50cm or above, a DSLR, mirrorless camera or high-resolution scan will produce the sharpest result. Upload your file when placing your order and our team will check it before production begins. If there is a quality concern, we will contact you before your frame goes to print.
How much does shipping cost, and how long does delivery take?
A flat $15 shipping fee applies to all box frame orders and is added automatically at checkout. This covers Australia-wide delivery. Box frames are made to order in Australia: smaller sizes are typically dispatched within 7 business days, and the largest sizes, such as A2, 70x70cm and A1, can take around 10-13 days before dispatch. What is the difference between a box frame and a framed print?
A framed print sits inside a slim, flat timber frame with the print flush or nearly flush to the front surface. A box frame uses a deep timber box, 33mm deep on the shadow line, so the glazing sits well in front of the print surface. The result is more dimensional and more prominent on the wall. Our box frames also use no mount, so the print runs edge to edge inside the box, whereas most framed prints sit behind a paper mat. Box frames cost roughly $60 to $70 above equivalent framed prints in our range.

Three Colours, One Price
Box frames are available in three frame colours: Black, White and Natural. All three are priced identically at every size, so the colour choice is entirely visual.
Black frames read strongly against pale walls, suit black-and-white photography, high-contrast illustration and bold fine-art prints, and hold their own in spaces with dark furniture or deep-coloured walls.
White frames are the neutral that suits most artwork. Photography, watercolour, botanical art and graphic prints all sit well inside a white box frame, and the colour recedes on a white wall so the image reads without a competing border.
Natural frames are hand-stained timber, warm in tone and suited to earthy photography, wildlife prints, landscape art and interiors that lean towards timber, rattan or linen. Natural is also the frame colour that shows the wood grain most clearly.
