Frequently Asked Questions
What changes the cost of foil menus?
Foil colour does not change the cost. Front & Back costs more than Front Only on the same configured item. Matte laminate costs more than no laminate on 300 GSM Matte. The cost per menu falls as the quantity in one order rises.
How many foil menus can I order?
The smallest order is 10 per configured item. The form steps up through 50, 100, 250, 500, 1,000, 2,500, 5,000 and 10,000, with no quantities between those steps. If your job is outside those steps, use the Get Custom Quote button on this page.
How do I upload and approve the proof?
Upload files up to 20MB in the cart before checkout. Use a link to Google Drive or Dropbox for larger files. A person checks every file, and a digital proof is emailed for your approval. Printing starts only after you approve it.
What does the design help include?
Artwork Fix works on an existing editable PDF or SVG, making scaling, cropping, colour, text, logo, image and layout changes. It adds 1 working day before the proof. Custom Design brings in a designer with 2 options and 3 revision rounds, and adds 2 working days before the proof.
How much do 50 A4 bifold (A3 to A4) foil menus cost?
Fifty A4 Bifold (A3 to A4) foil menus cost $608.30 in total, which is $12.16 each, including GST. This is the live order total for the default selection of 120 GSM Matte, no laminate, front and back foil, and copper foil. Standard delivery adds $10 per order.
Do foil menu prices include GST and delivery?
Foil menu prices on this page include GST but do not include delivery. Standard delivery is $10 per order and express delivery is $15 per order, Australia-wide. Metallic menu printing for dining and events
These foil menus are printed menus with full-colour digital print and metallic foil. This is the menu printing service for a restaurant, a cafe, a bar, a wedding, an event or a corporate function. The full-colour digital print and the metallic foil are both part of the configured item. Before checkout, the order form captures the foil colour, foil side, paper stock, laminate and finished size, and those choices define the configured item.

How the foil goes on
On these foil menus, the foil process applies metallic foil as its own layer on the areas your file marks. The order form lists 5 foil colour options, and each configured item takes one foil colour. The foil side choice defines the faces that receive it: Front & Back puts foil on both faces, while Front Only puts foil on the front face alone. Paper stock and laminate
The paper stocks use two gsm weights: 120 GSM Matte and 300 GSM Matte. The 120 GSM Matte sheet is the lighter of the two and is sold in the 6 folded formats only. Laminate None is the only laminate choice for that stock.
The 300 GSM Matte sheet is the heavier of the two and is sold in all 10 formats, flat and folded. Matte laminate is offered with 300 GSM Matte only.
Flat and folded formats
The flat formats are Flat A3, Flat A4, Flat A5 and Flat DL. Each is one sheet with no fold.
- A4 Bifold takes an A3 sheet and folds once to A4.
- A4 Gatefold uses an A3 sheet and folds two side panels inward to A4.
- A5 Bifold starts as an A4 sheet and folds once to A5.
- DL C-fold takes an A4 sheet, folds twice to 99 x 210 mm, and rolls the panels inward.
- DL Z-fold uses an A4 sheet, folds twice to 99 x 210 mm, and forms a zigzag.
- Double Gatefold folds an A3 sheet into 105 x 297 mm panels.
Setting up your file
The file basics are PDF preferred, then SVG, AI or EPS, CMYK colour, fonts converted to outlines, images embedded, 100% scale, 3mm bleed, text and graphics at least 3mm inside the trim, and borders at least 5mm thick. For foil artwork, place the foil area on its own artboard and assign the CYAN spot colour the name of the chosen foil colour. For folded artwork, supply the open flat sheet with front and back, and mark fold positions in a MAGENTA spot colour on a top layer.
Other menu types in the range
The standard menus product covers menu printing without foil, and it keeps the same flat and folded format choices. The diecut menus product is for menus cut to a shape, and it does not add a metallic foil layer to the finished item. The white ink menus product uses white ink printed on coloured stocks, and it leaves the metallic foil step out of the configuration. The Restaurants & Cafe range gathers standard, die-cut, white ink and foil menus, and the coasters product is a separate printed beermat board.
