Restaurant and cafe menus printed in Australia

Standard menus are colour-printed on quality paper stock and designed for daily use in cafes, restaurants, bars, and quick-service venues. Two paper stocks are available - 300gsm Matte for a smooth, premium flat finish, and 170gsm Silk for a lighter stock with a subtle sheen. A laminate upgrade is available on the 300gsm Matte for extra durability and a wipe-resistant surface.

Choose from A3, A4, A5, and DL formats in flat or folded configurations. Folded menus are supplied as flat sheets with score lines, ready for you to assemble on site. Full-colour printing is included on both sides of every menu, keeping layouts clear and readable.

Suited to everyday dining menus, drink lists, specials inserts, and function packages. Standard menus are the workhorse of the restaurant print range - practical, on-brand, and easy to reorder when your menu changes.

Frequently Asked Questions
What sizes are available for printed menus?

Standard menus are available in four sizes: DL (99 x 210mm), A5 (148 x 210mm), A4 (210 x 297mm), and A3 (297 x 420mm). DL suits narrow drink menus and specials inserts, A5 and A4 are the most common dining menu formats, and A3 suits large shared table menus and entrance displays. Flat and folded configurations are available across all sizes.

What paper stocks are available?

Two paper stocks are available: 300gsm Matte and 170gsm Silk. The 300gsm Matte is the heavier option with a smooth, flat finish and is the only stock that supports the laminate upgrade. The 170gsm Silk is a lighter, bright-white stock with a subtle sheen, suited to venues that reprint menus frequently. Both stocks include full-colour printing on both sides.

Is printing included on both sides?

Yes. Full-colour printing on both sides is included with every standard menu order. This applies to flat menus and all folded formats. Your front and back artwork files are printed together as part of the order - no additional charge applies for double-sided output.

What is the difference between standard menus and foil or die-cut menus?

Standard menus are colour-printed on paper stock without additional finishing - the most versatile and cost-effective option. Foil menus add real metallic foil accents (gold, rose gold, silver, copper, or holographic) to logos and headings, lifting perceived quality for premium venues. Die-cut menus are trimmed to a custom shape - circle, oval, or custom contour - for venues that want a distinctive silhouette. Standard menus fit all standard menu holders and suit the widest range of venues and budgets.

Can I get a sample before placing a full order?

Contact the team via live chat or email to ask about sample options for printed menus. A design proof is sent to your email before production begins - you can review layout, colours, and text and request revisions before the full order is printed. No production proceeds without your written approval.

What artwork format do I need to supply?

Accepted file formats are PDF (preferred), SVG, and Adobe Illustrator (.ai or .eps). Set artwork up with 3mm bleed and crop marks where possible. All fonts should be outlined and all images embedded before export. For folded menu formats, include a dieline in 100% Magenta Spot Colour on a top layer so the fold positions are clear. Contact the team if you need a template for your chosen size and format.

Can you design the menu for me?

Paperlust Print Shop is primarily a print service - artwork is supplied by the customer. If you need design assistance, contact the team via live chat to discuss options. A design proof is provided before printing begins, and revisions can be requested at that stage to address layout, spacing, and minor adjustments.

How long does production take?

Standard menus are produced with a fast turnaround. Production begins after your design proof is approved, so the total time from order to dispatch depends partly on how quickly artwork is confirmed. For time-sensitive orders, mention your event date when ordering and the team can advise on the best option. Check the product page for current lead times.

Can I order a small quantity of menus?

Flexible order quantities are available. Whether you need a short run for a new menu launch or a large quantity for a busy venue, check the product page for the current quantity options and pricing tiers. Smaller runs are useful for testing new menu layouts or catering events before committing to a full reprint.

How do I make my menus more durable or wipe-resistant?

A laminate finish is available on the 300gsm Matte stock and adds a protective coating to the printed surface. Laminated menus are more resistant to handling, light moisture, and surface marks - practical for high-traffic dining environments. Note that laminate is not available on the 170gsm Silk stock. Select the laminate option at the time of ordering, or contact the team to confirm the right configuration.

Are folded menus an option?

Yes. Flat and folded formats are both available. Folded menus are supplied as flat sheets with pre-cut score lines - your team assembles them on site. This approach keeps production streamlined and allows you to fold menus to the configuration that suits your layout. Check the product page for the available fold configurations across each size.

How are menus shipped to my venue?

Australian orders ship via Startrack express (1-2 business days metro, 3-5 business days regional) or AusPost standard (2-5 business days metro, 4-6 business days regional). International orders ship via DHL with a flat AUD $35 charge, arriving in approximately 2-4 working days. Menus are packaged flat to arrive in print-ready condition.

Can I reorder using the same artwork later?

Contact the team to discuss reorder options. If your menu content has not changed, note that in your enquiry and the team can advise on the fastest path to reorder. For seasonal or rotating menus, saving your artwork in the accepted file formats (PDF, SVG, .ai) makes reordering straightforward each time you update pricing or dishes.

Custom Printed Restaurant Menus - Colour on Quality Stock

Standard menus from Paperlust Print Shop are designed for the realities of everyday hospitality - menus that sit on tables, get handled by dozens of customers a day, and need to hold up through a full service. Full-colour printing on both sides ensures your food, drink, and pricing read clearly from every angle, whether the layout is portrait or landscape, simple or content-heavy.

Two paper stocks are available to suit different venue styles. The 300gsm Matte gives a smooth, premium flat finish - substantial in hand and suited to fine-casual and above. The 170gsm Silk is a lighter, bright-white stock with a subtle surface sheen, well-suited to high-volume venues that reprint menus frequently. A laminate upgrade is available on the 300gsm Matte stock for a more durable, wipe-resistant finish - useful in environments where menus see constant handling.

Flat menus and folded menus are both available. Folded formats are supplied as flat sheets with score lines, assembled on your end. A3, A4, A5, and DL sizes cover the full range from full dining menus through to compact drink lists and narrow specials inserts.

  • 300gsm Matte or 170gsm Silk paper stock
  • Full-colour printing on both sides, every order
  • Laminate available on 300gsm Matte for durability
  • Flat or folded formats across A3, A4, A5, and DL

Standard, Foil, or Die-Cut Menus - Finding the Right Format

The three menu formats in the Paperlust Print Shop range serve different purposes. Standard menus deliver clean, professional colour printing at a practical price point - suited to venues that reprint regularly, run high volumes, or want a format that works with standard menu folders and table holders. Foil and die-cut options add premium features for venues where presentation is part of the offer.

Standard vs foil menus: Foil menus apply real metallic foil - gold, rose gold, silver, copper, or holographic - to logos, headings, and accents. The visual result is a step up in perceived quality, suited to fine dining, cocktail bars, and premium venues. The tradeoff is higher cost per unit and a longer production window. Standard menus are the right call when affordability and reprint frequency matter more than metallic finish.

Standard vs die-cut menus: Die-cut menus are trimmed to a custom shape - circle, oval, or a bespoke contour - rather than the standard rectangular sheet. They create immediate visual distinction on a table, but work best for venues with a strong brand identity to match. Standard rectangular menus fit all standard menu holders and suit a wider range of venue styles.

Menu Sizes, Paper Stocks, and Fold Options

Standard menus are available in four base sizes to cover the full range of restaurant and cafe print requirements:

  • DL - 99 x 210mm: the narrow, tall format suited to drink menus, wine lists, and specials inserts. Fits standard DL menu holders and envelope-style covers.
  • A5 - 148 x 210mm: a compact format for single-page table menus, dessert menus, and daily specials cards.
  • A4 - 210 x 297mm: the most common dining menu size, suited to full-page layouts with multiple sections.
  • A3 - 297 x 420mm: a large format for shared table displays, chalkboard-style printed menus, and venue entrance boards.

Paper stock choices are 300gsm Matte and 170gsm Silk. The 300gsm Matte is the heavier, more premium option and is the only stock compatible with the laminate upgrade. Laminate adds a protective coating that makes the surface more resistant to handling, moisture, and light spills - practical for high-traffic environments. The 170gsm Silk is a lighter stock suited to venues that update menus frequently.

Flat and folded formats are both available. Folded menus are supplied as flat sheets with pre-cut score lines, ready to fold on your end. Full-colour printing is included on both sides of every order, regardless of format.

Where Standard Menus Work Best

Standard printed menus suit any venue where clear, well-presented print is the priority - from daily-service restaurants through to one-off events and catering runs. Common applications include:

  • Restaurants and bistros: Full A4 dining menus for everyday service, reordered as the menu changes seasonally or more frequently.
  • Cafes and quick-service counters: Compact A5 or DL formats for counter display, table tents, and specials cards that can be updated affordably.
  • Bars and bottle shops: DL drink menus, cocktail lists, and wine lists printed in a format that fits standard holders and bar sleeves.
  • Wedding receptions and gala dinners: A5 or DL format printed dining menus for guest place settings - elegant without the cost of foil finishing.
  • Catering businesses and food trucks: Short-run menus that can be reprinted affordably for different events or seasonal rotations without a large minimum quantity commitment.
  • Function and event venues: Packages of printed menus for corporate dinners, private events, and venue hire clients - consistent in format across all tables and easy to reorder between bookings.

More Print for Your Restaurant or Venue

Standard menus are the foundation of a restaurant's print suite, but the full collateral range extends well beyond the table. Foil menus bring a metallic accent finish to the same formats - suited to venues ready to move into premium print. Die-cut menus take the next step, trimming menus to a distinctive custom shape that reinforces brand identity at the table. Counter cards are a natural companion for point-of-sale promotion at the counter or bar.

For take-home promotion and event marketing, postcards and die-cut postcards work well as loyalty cards, seasonal campaign cards, and event invitations. Flyers handle higher-distribution promotional needs - new venue openings, seasonal promotions, and event announcements. Each product is printed and shipped from the same Melbourne studio.
