Custom Life-Size Cutouts
A life-size cutout takes one full body photo of a real person, enlarges it, and prints it in full colour on one side of a 5mm foam board. The board is cut around the outline of the figure, and a strut fixed to the back means it stands by itself, up to 1800mm tall.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are these cardboard cutouts?
Most people ask for these as a cardboard cutout, but ours are printed on 5mm foam board, not on cardboard. The foam board is lighter and more rigid, with a smooth face.
How tall is a life-size cutout, and what if the person is taller than the board?
The board is 1800mm tall, which is 180cm, and the figure is sized to fill it, so the cutout stands up to 180cm tall. Tell us the person's height before approving the proof if you want a real height match, and a person taller than 180cm is scaled down slightly to fit.
Which width should I choose?
Choose 700mm W x 1800mm H for one person standing with arms close to the body. Choose 1200mm W x 1800mm H for two people, a wide pose with arms out, or a person with a pet or a prop.
Do I need to remove the background or supply a cut file?
No. We remove the background and build the cut line from your photo, so no cut file and no design software are needed.
What kind of photo works well?
Use the original photo from the phone or camera, with the whole person standing front on in good light against a background they stand out from. A screenshot or a saved copy has been compressed and will print soft at this size.
Does it stand up by itself?
Yes. A strut fixed to the back with velcro dots lets it stand by itself on a hard, flat indoor floor, with no stand or easel.
Can I put it outdoors?
No. It is made for indoor use, and the board is not weatherproof and is sensitive to heat and moisture.
How do I order several different people?
Order one cutout per person, with each different person as a separate item in the cart. The quantity on an item is the number of copies of that one photo.
How long does production take, and what does delivery cost?
Production takes 3 to 7 business days after you approve the proof, with delivery time added on top. Standard delivery is $15 per order and express is $60 per order, Australia wide, or you can pick up from Oakleigh South, Victoria at no charge.
Can I have a celebrity or a film character printed?
Prints are limited to photos you own or have permission to use, so we do not add celebrities, film, television or cartoon characters, or club and brand logos without owner permission.

Ours are printed on foam board instead of cardboard
Most people ask for these as a cardboard cutout or a photo cutout. Ours are printed on 5mm foam board, not on cardboard, and that changes how it feels and how it holds its shape. The foam board is rigid with a smooth face, and it is lighter and more rigid than cardboard. The image is put down by full colour direct UV printing, which puts the ink straight onto the board, and each cutout is made to order in Australia.
Choosing the width that fits the pose
There are two sizes, and both are 1800mm tall. The size is the board the figure is cut from, so the width is about how much room the person or the pose needs.
- 700mm W x 1800mm H: one person standing, with their arms by their side or close to the body.
- 1200mm W x 1800mm H: two people side by side, one person in a wide pose with arms out, or a person with a pet or a prop.
The figure is sized to fill the board, so the cutout stands up to 180cm tall. If you want the figure at the person's real height, tell us that height before approving the proof and we size the figure to match. A person taller than 180cm is scaled down slightly to fit the board.

What we do to your photo before anything prints
You do not need to remove the background or supply a cut file. With every order we remove the background, build the cut line around the figure, check the photo at the size you ordered, and email you a proof, all included at no extra charge. The cut follows a smooth outline, so fine stray hairs and small gaps are tidied into the shape, and the bottom edge is kept straight so the cutout sits flat on the floor. Nothing prints until you approve it, and no design software is needed on your side.
For the best result, use a photo where the whole person is in frame from head to feet, standing, taken front on from about chest height in good light, against a background they stand out from. Send the original file straight from the phone or camera. A full body photo is enlarged a long way, and a screenshot or a copy saved from a social media or messaging app has been compressed and will print soft at this size. If a photo will not enlarge cleanly, we say so before anything prints. The photo is uploaded in the cart, and the cart accepts images, zip, rar or pdf.
If you already have a print ready file, that works too. It can be a PDF, SVG or Adobe Illustrator file, with 3mm bleed and the cut line supplied as a dieline in 100% magenta spot colour on the top layer.
How it stands on its own, and how to care for it
Every cutout is finished with a strut fixed to the back with velcro dots, so it stands by itself on a hard, flat indoor floor with no stand or easel.
The print is one sided, so the back is plain. These are made for indoor use. The board is not weatherproof and is sensitive to heat and moisture, so keep it dry and away from direct sun and heaters. Carry it flat or on its long edge, and store it flat.
How many to order, how long it takes, and what we can and cannot print
You can order 1 to 10, or 20, and there is no minimum, so a single cutout is a valid order. The quantity is the number of copies of the same cutout from one photo, and a different person is a separate item in the cart.
