Matching corflute signs and car magnets
Do electricians need their licence number on a business card?
Western Australia requires the licence number on any advertisement, including business cards. Victoria requires the REC number on advertisements offering electrical work. New South Wales requires the licensed name and number in all electrical wiring ads. The ACT requires the licensed name and number on business cards. In Queensland, check with the Electrical Safety Office, and in South Australia with Consumer and Business Services, what your card must show. If unsure, check with your state or territory regulator.
What should an electrician put on a business card?
Start with your name or trading name and the type of electrical work you do. Put your phone number next, then your electrical licence or registration number where your state requires it, and your ABN if it helps your invoicing. Add the services you actually quote, the suburbs or region you cover, and a QR code to a quote form, booking page or reviews.
Which card stock suits an electrician?
Standard Business Cards are the practical choice: 90 x 55 mm, front only or front and back, on 300 GSM Matte, Linen, Cotton or Metallic, or 450 GSM Artboard with Velvet Laminate. A design made for that stock also works on Rounded Corner and Recycled Business Cards. Coloured Paper Business Cards suit a darker look and print in CMYK or white ink on 270 GSM Black or Navy, 290 GSM Kraft, or 300 GSM Forest Green, Hunter Green, Burgundy and Cream. Duplex Business Cards bond two stocks into an extra thick card, with the two colours visible on the edge.
Can I match my van and site signs to the card?
Yes. Keep the same business name, phone number and licence details across your card, a set of corflute signs and car magnets. Use the corflute signs on a site fence or yard sign, and the car magnets on the ute or van doors. When the card, sign and vehicle share one layout, the details look consistent and the customer is more likely to keep the card instead of only photographing the sign. The tradie print marketing kit shows how to set up that matched kit.
How does ordering a ready design work?
Choose a ready design in the gallery and it opens on the matched card product page, with that design selected and its print options marked Recommended. After Add to cart, enter your name, business name, phone, email and, where your state or trade needs them, your electrical licence or registration number and ABN. We set those details into the layout and email a free PDF proof within 1 to 2 business days. Nothing prints until you approve the proof, and production starts after that. Ready designs do not carry a set-up charge.

What an electrician business card needs to show
The strongest electrician business cards front-load the few details a client uses after the job. Put these on the card in this order.
- Who you are and what you do: your name or trading name, with a clear line such as residential, solar and battery, data, security or commercial electrical work.
- Phone number: the number you will actually answer.
- Licence or registration details: your state electrical licence, registration or contractor number where the rules require it.
- ABN: add it where it helps your invoices and paperwork, not as a universal card rule.
- Services: name the jobs you quote, such as switchboard upgrades, data cabling or battery storage.
- Area: a suburb or region so the wrong jobs don't call.
- QR code: send it to a quote form, booking page or reviews; most designs in this gallery have a spot for one.
What the licence rules say about electrician business cards
Western Australia and the ACT name business cards explicitly in their electrical advertising rules. Victoria and New South Wales use broader advertising wording.
- Western Australia: Building and Energy requires the electrical contractor's licence number, often shown as EC 004700, on any advertisement. It counts business cards and vehicle signage among advertisements.
- Victoria: Energy Safe Victoria says a registered electrical contractor must display the REC number on any notice or statement offering electrical contracting work.
- New South Wales: Fair Trading requires the contractor licence holder's name and number in all advertising for electrical wiring work, and a contractor licence is needed at any value.
- Queensland: check with the Electrical Safety Office what your card must show.
- South Australia: check with Consumer and Business Services what your card must show.
- ACT: the Construction Occupations (Licensing) Act treats electrician as a construction occupation, so business cards must show the name on the licence and its number.
An ABN is separate. ASIC says a company does not need to show its ACN on a business card, and the ATO has no rule that a sole trader must print an ABN on one. The ABN still matters on invoices and other documents. If you are outside those states, or unsure, check with your state or territory electrical regulator before you print.
Which card stock suits an electrician
Across this gallery, Standard Business Cards carry most designs, with Coloured Paper, Duplex, Spot UV and Flat Foil covering the rest. Every design in the gallery shows its front and back and comes in several colourways.
A Standard card is the straight trade choice: 90 x 55 mm, front only or front and back, on 300 GSM Matte, Linen, Cotton or Metallic, or 450 GSM Artboard with Velvet Laminate. The four 300 GSM stocks have no laminate. When a layout is built on Standard Business Cards, the same design can move to the Rounded Corner and Recycled stocks.
If you want the paper colour to do part of the talking, Coloured Paper Business Cards use 270 GSM Black or Navy, 290 GSM Kraft, and 300 GSM Forest Green, Hunter Green, Burgundy, Cream and more. They print in CMYK or white ink. On a coloured sheet, the ink colour follows the colourway you selected.
Duplex Business Cards bond two stocks together, one paper on each face, to make an extra thick card. The two colours show along the edge. A design built around foil, spot UV, Scodix, duplex or coloured paper stays on its own card. Many of those can also run as a Standard edition, which is the same layout transferred flat to Standard Business Cards.
How a ready design becomes your card
Pick a ready design and it opens on the card product it was built for, with the design selected and the print options marked Recommended. You can change any option. At the Upload Artwork step, enter your business name, phone, email, and your electrical licence, registration or ABN where needed. We set those details into the layout and email a free PDF proof within 1 to 2 business days. Nothing prints until you approve it. You can request another shape or orientation and we lay it out in-house at no charge. Need the layout itself changed, or a card built from your own logo? The Custom Design service adds a dedicated professional designer, two first-proof options and three revision rounds. Browse the business card designs range for other trades or styles.
Match the van, site and yard to the card
Once the electrician business cards are approved, run the same trading name, phone number and licence details onto the rest of the kit. Keep a set of corflute signs in the vehicle for a site fence or yard board, and a pair of car magnets on the ute or van doors. Follow the print marketing kit for tradies so the card, the site sign and the vehicle read as one kit.
What you can expect from a ready design
PRINT WITH THE DETAILS LOCKED
You check a free PDF proof before we print a single card, so the licence, ABN and phone number are right before the run starts. Nothing prints until you approve that proof.
The full order is printed in Melbourne.
Ready designs do not carry a set-up charge, so the card price is all you pay.
