Matching loyalty cards and standard menus
What should a cafe put on a business card?
Start with the cafe name and what you serve, such as coffee, brunch, bakery or matcha. Then add the suburb or address, the opening hours, and a phone number, order link or QR code. Instagram helps regulars follow the specials. A loyalty side with stamp circles and clear conditions works well. For a coffee cart, list the events you cater and how to book.
Does a cafe or coffee cart need its food licence number on a business card?
No cafe or coffee cart card needs a food licence number. The business registers or notifies before trading, and the number has no national format. New South Wales: notify the local council. Victoria: council registration, Food Act 1984. Queensland: council licence, Food Act 2006. Western Australia: register or notify the local government. South Australia: Food Business Notification, Food Act 2001. For carts, Queensland displays licence details on the vehicle, not the card. Victoria uses FoodTrader. New South Wales mobile vendors notify the council and keep the Food Safety Supervisor certificate in the vehicle.
What should a coffee loyalty card say?
The Australian Consumer Law requires the conditions to be clear and not misleading. State one stamp per coffee, note any exclusions or expiry, and print them on the card or point to them from it. For gift cards sold since 1 November 2019, validity is at least 3 years, the expiry must appear, and no fees after sale are allowed.
Can a cafe card say organic or single origin?
Single origin is fine when you can name the one origin behind the coffee. Direct trade should mean a real relationship with the producer. Certified organic and the Bud logo need certification and a licence. The Fairtrade and Rainforest Alliance marks need their own licence and artwork approval. Carbon neutral follows the ACCC emissions-claims guidance. If a claim is unconfirmed, leave it off the card.
Which card suits a cafe, a coffee cart or a bakery?
Most designs sit on Standard Business Cards. You can pick 300 GSM Matte, Linen, Cotton or Metallic, or 450 GSM Artboard with Velvet Laminate, front only or front and back. Coloured Paper Business Cards give a warmer look on kraft, black, navy, forest green, burgundy or cream. Recycled Business Cards use 350 GSM ecoStar+ 100% recycled uncoated board in bright white. A design built for Standard also prints on Rounded Corner and Recycled.
How does ordering a ready cafe card design work?
Choose a ready design and it opens with its print options already selected and marked Recommended. Add it to cart, type your name, business name, phone, email and any ABN or licence details, and we place those into the layout and send a free PDF proof within 1 to 2 business days. Nothing prints until you approve it. A ready design has no set-up charge. We adjust another shape or orientation in-house at no cost. Production starts after approval, and each product page shows its current production time.

What cafe business cards should show
Customers read coffee shop business cards the way they scan the counter: who you are, where you are, and how to order next. Keep the details in that order and the card does its job before anyone asks.
- The cafe name and what you serve, such as coffee, brunch, bakery, matcha or fresh juice.
- The address or suburb and your opening hours.
- A phone number, an order link or a QR code that goes straight to your menu or pickup page.
- Instagram, or the social account where people check your specials.
- A loyalty side with its conditions, so the card can be stamped at the machine.
- For a coffee cart, the events you cater and how to book.
Details and claims to get right on cafe business cards
No licence or protected title exists for cafe owners, baristas or coffee roasters. A barista trainer or course graduate may name the unit SITHFAB025 Prepare and serve espresso coffee, which sits within SIT30622 Certificate III in Hospitality.
The food business itself registers or notifies before trading. The number a council issues has no national format, and it never belongs on a business card. New South Wales asks you to notify the local council. Victoria uses the Food Act 1984 for council registration, and the council sets the premises class from the highest-risk food activity. Queensland grants a food business licence through the council via the Food Act 2006, shown at the premises. Western Australia asks you to register with, or tell, the local government. South Australia expects a Food Business Notification to the council before you open, per the Food Act 2001.
For a mobile coffee cart or van, the display rules stay with the vehicle. In Queensland the issuing council, the licence number, the expiry date and the licensee's name must appear on the mobile premises. That is the only number-on-the-vehicle rule we found, and it does not reach the card. Victoria registers mobile traders through FoodTrader, with a Statement of Trade for each event. New South Wales mobile vendors notify the council and keep the Food Safety Supervisor certificate in the vehicle.
A card may say Food Safety Supervisor on site, but never the certificate number. Keep loyalty card conditions clear and not misleading: one stamp per coffee, and any exclusions or expiry printed on the card or pointed to from it. Gift cards sold since 1 November 2019 are valid for at least 3 years, show the expiry on the card, and carry no fees after sale.
For coffee claims, certified organic and the Bud logo need certification and a licence. The Fairtrade and Rainforest Alliance marks need their own licence and artwork approval. Single origin means one named origin. Direct trade means a real relationship with the producer. Carbon neutral follows the ACCC emissions-claims guidance.
Company numbers have their own limits. A company must show its name and ACN, or ABN where the ABN contains the ACN, on invoices, receipts, orders and letterhead. It does not have to show them on business cards. A sole trader has no rule to print an ABN on a card, and the ATO calls showing it on stationery a good idea.
Elsewhere, or when unsure, check with your local council's environmental health team before you print.
Choosing the card stock for a cafe, cart or bakery
Most cafe business cards on this page sit on Standard Business Cards. You can pick 300 GSM Matte, Linen, Cotton or Metallic, or 450 GSM Artboard with Velvet Laminate, in the standard 90 x 55 mm size, front only or front and back. The four 300 GSM stocks come without a laminate.
For a warmer, more tactile card, Coloured Paper Business Cards print on coloured cardstock. Options include 270 GSM Black or Navy, 290 GSM Kraft, and 300 GSM Forest Green, Hunter Green, Burgundy and Cream, with more available, in either CMYK or white ink.
If the card should lead with the environment, Recycled Business Cards use uncoated 350 GSM ecoStar+ board made from 100% recycled fibre, bright white, about 0.45 mm thick, at 90 x 55 mm. FSC Recycled and EU Ecolabel are listed on the paper maker's specification sheet.
Designs on this page were built for those cards. A design built for the standard card also works on Rounded Corner Business Cards and Recycled Business Cards. Designs that lean on a special finish or stock, such as foil, spot UV, Scodix, duplex or coloured paper, stay on the card they were built for. Many of those can also run as a flat Standard edition, with the same layout printed on Standard Business Cards.
How a ready design becomes your cafe card
Open any ready design and it opens with its recommended print options selected, which you can change. Add it to cart, enter your name, business name, phone, email and any licence or ABN details, and we put those into the layout and email a free PDF proof within 1 to 2 business days. Nothing prints until you approve, and production starts on the timeline shown on each product page. A ready design has no set-up charge. Need another shape or orientation? We adjust the layout in-house at no cost. Each design shows its front and back in several colourways, and on coloured stock the ink stays in the colourway you chose. For other trade looks, browse business card designs.
Matching the rest of your print to the card
Keep the same type and colours across the counter. Stamp coffee Loyalty Cards at the machine, the tenth coffee free, with the conditions on the card. Then carry the look through menus, table talkers and signs from the Restaurant and Cafe Print page. For the opening checklist, use the Cafe and Restaurant Print Kit blog before you print.
PRINT WITH CONFIDENCE
Every ready cafe design includes a free PDF proof. Your approval starts the press, never before.
The cards are printed in Melbourne. There is no set-up charge on a ready design.
