Owner Builder Signs

Each owner builder sign layout below is available in all three sizes.

• Queensland owner-builder layout: an owner-builder heading and the QBCC owner-builder permit number printed large, with room for the person's name and a phone number.
• Western Australia owner-builder layout: the owner-builder's name, a contact phone number and the owner-builder approval number.
• Victoria owner-builder layout: the regulation 41 details with the owner-builder in the builder's place, the owner-builder's name and contact details, the relevant building surveyor's registration number and contact details, plus the building permit number with its date of issue.
• New South Wales owner-builder layout: the section 70 details with the owner-builder in the contractor's place, the principal certifier's name, a street address and a phone number, the owner-builder's name and an outside working hours phone number, and the unauthorised entry statement already printed. The permit number is optional on this layout.

Queensland: the QBCC states that a person who works under an owner-builder permit must display a sign at a prominent spot on the site they control that meets the regulations and shows the number of the permit. Western Australia: Building Services (Registration) Regulations 2011 regulation 27 requires the owner-builder's sign to show the name of the owner-builder, a contact telephone number for them, and the approval number for the work. The sign must sit in a position of prominence where the public can read it from outside the site, be of reasonable dimensions, and use clearly legible letters and numerals. Victoria: Building Regulations 2018 regulation 41 sets out the sign for the person named as builder in the building permit, showing that person's registration numbers and contact details along with those of the relevant building surveyor, and the building permit number with its issue date. The Housing Industry Association advises this sign duty extends to owner-builders. New South Wales: no sign is written for owner-builders. Where work proceeds under a development consent or a complying development certificate, the site sign required by the Environmental Planning and Assessment Regulation 2021 section 70 names the principal certifier, their address and phone number, the principal contractor's name if one exists with an after-hours phone number, and the statement that unauthorised entry to the site is prohibited. An owner-builder permit number is given to council in writing rather than shown on a board. Other states and territories each set their own rules, so confirm requirements with the relevant building regulator. Our layouts follow these owner builder sign requirements but are not legal advice. Choose the size that suits the job.

• 600 x 900mm portrait: suits a typical residential site fence.
• 900 x 600mm landscape: the same 600 x 900mm board laid horizontally to suit a long fence panel or hoarding.
• 900 x 1200mm portrait: a bigger board that can be read from a distance on a wide frontage or busy road.

3mm corflute is lighter and costs less. 5mm is thicker and more rigid for windy or exposed sites and longer jobs. Choose printing on one side or both sides. Eyelets on All Edges adds a silver metal eyelet, 10mm in diameter, near every corner for cable ties to temporary fencing or hoarding; the no eyelet option is also available. Number of Designs lets one order split evenly across up to 10 different designs, with the $15 set-up applied to each design on a layout.

For Queensland, fix the board in a conspicuous spot on the building site under your control. For Western Australia, place the board so it is visible to passers-by from outside the property. With eyelets on all edges, cable tie the sign to temporary fencing or hoarding. The printed sign is the only thing supplied; cable ties, screws, stakes, frames or other fixings are not included. Corflute is weather-resistant and keeps its looks for weeks to several months in the open on a typical job, depending on sun exposure and handling.

All prices include GST and cover 3mm corflute with printing on one side, no eyelets and one design. Any of the four layouts on 600 x 900mm or 900 x 600mm is $54 for one sign, $77 for two and $195 for ten, which is $19.50 per sign. The same layouts on 900 x 1200mm are $91 for one sign. Own artwork on 600 x 900mm is $39 for one sign. Eyelets on all edges can be added for $3.50 per sign at any quantity, and every other combination of options is priced in the product selector. Orders start at one sign with no minimum order quantity. 24 hour production starts after design proof approval for orders of 1 to 3 signs in our standard sizes, and for orders of up to 10 signs in our standard sizes picked up from Oakleigh South. 48 hour production applies after design proof approval to delivered orders of 4 or more signs, to any order of more than 10 signs, and to 900 x 1200mm signs at any quantity.
