What goes on a construction site entry sign?

Does my site need a principal contractor sign?
Whether you need a principal contractor sign depends on the project value and state. Regulation 308 applies to construction work costing $250,000 or more in New South Wales, Queensland, Tasmania and the ACT, $450,000 or more in South Australia, and $1,000,000 or more in the Northern Territory. Victoria has a similar rule at $350,000 or more, while Western Australia does not use regulation 308.
Which PPE symbols are on the Site entry layout?
The Site entry layout prints five mandatory PPE symbols: head protection, high visibility clothing, safety footwear, eye protection and hearing protection. They appear in a row.
Can I add my company logo?
Yes. On either of the layouts that take your details, you add a logo during the upload step, and our team places it into the design. The Logo board layout prints it large with your company name and contact details.
Does a layout cost more than own artwork?
The two layouts that need your details attract a $15 per design set-up charge above the own artwork price. The danger layout carries no set-up charge, so its price matches own artwork.
What does the Danger construction site layout say and what does it cost?
The danger layout reads DANGER, CONSTRUCTION SITE, KEEP OUT, AUTHORISED PERSONS ONLY in the danger sign format. In 3mm corflute with a single printed face and no eyelets, it is $30 for a 600 x 450mm sign or $39 for a 600 x 900mm sign, with no set-up charge.
Which size suits a site entry board?
600 x 900mm portrait is the usual entry board. Choose 900 x 1200mm portrait for a large board sized to be read from a distance on a wide frontage, or 900 x 600mm landscape to span a wide fence panel or a hoarding section. No minimum order applies, so a single sign is fine.
Can the board be landscape?
Yes. The 900 x 600mm landscape size is the same 600 x 900mm board placed sideways, well suited to a wide run of temporary fencing or a hoarding panel. Both of the layouts that need your details come in that landscape size.
How is the board attached to site fencing and are fixings supplied?
You can choose the eyelets option, which adds one 10mm silver metal eyelet near each corner, four in all, for securing to temporary fencing or hoarding with cable ties. Cable ties, screws, stakes and frames are not included, and we do not sell those items on this page.
How long do production and delivery take and what does delivery cost?
Production after design proof approval is 24 hours for orders of 1 to 3 signs in our standard sizes, and for orders of up to 10 signs in our standard sizes picked up from Oakleigh South. Production after design proof approval is 48 hours for delivered orders of 4 or more signs, for any order of more than 10 signs, and for 900 x 1200mm signs at any quantity. Delivery runs $15 standard or $60 express per order sent anywhere in Australia, with free pickup from Oakleigh South.

What the Site entry layout puts on the board
A construction site entry sign built with the Site entry layout carries these elements, top to bottom:
- the company name and logo at the top
- a danger panel with the words CONSTRUCTION SITE and AUTHORISED PERSONS ONLY
- five mandatory PPE symbols: head protection, high visibility clothing, safety footwear, eye protection and hearing protection
- the line ALL VISITORS MUST REPORT TO THE SITE OFFICE
- a principal contractor block with the principal contractor's name, phone numbers including an after hours number, and the site office location
You type the company name and the principal contractor details and upload a logo. The danger panel, PPE row and visitors line are already printed.
When a principal contractor sign is needed
Under regulation 308 of the model Work Health and Safety Regulations, the principal contractor on a construction project has to put up signage that names the principal contractor and gives telephone contact numbers, with an after hours number among them, plus the location of the site office for the project when one exists. The signs need to be easy to see from outside the workplace or work area.
A principal contractor sign applies when construction work costs:
- $250,000 or more in New South Wales, Queensland, Tasmania and the ACT
- $450,000 or more in South Australia, where SafeWork SA expects the principal contractor's name, phone numbers available 24 hours, and the site office location
- $1,000,000 or more in the Northern Territory
At $350,000 or more Victoria asks for signs with the principal contractor's name and contact telephone numbers, clearly visible from outside the workplace, and the Victorian builder board can carry those details. Western Australia does not use regulation 308.

The Logo board and danger construction site layouts
The Logo board layout puts your logo large with the company name, a phone number, a website and a licence number. As a branding panel for fence lines and hoarding, it does not serve as a legal sign. For a danger construction site sign with a fixed message, choose the danger construction site layout. Its wording, in the danger sign format, is: DANGER, CONSTRUCTION SITE, KEEP OUT, AUTHORISED PERSONS ONLY. The word DANGER appears in white on a red oval inside a black rectangle, with that heading above a white field and the remaining message in black. Nothing to type. The danger layout costs the same as own artwork and also comes in the 600 x 450mm size.
How ordering works
Pick a layout and board options and add to cart, then on the Upload Artwork step type the sign details in one text box and upload your logo; our team sets the text and logo into the layout and sends back a PDF proof for your approval. Printing starts only after you approve it. The Site entry and Logo board layouts carry a $15 per design set-up charged in addition to the own artwork price for the identical sign, while the danger layout adds none. Choose Upload my own artwork with a supplied PDF or high resolution file, and our team checks it at the proof stage. This route covers any other site sign such as a site office sign or a no unauthorised entry sign. Sizes and board options
Choose from four board sizes:
- 600 x 450mm: a compact sign for a gate, a door or a fence panel at eye level; this size suits the danger layout and own artwork only
- 600 x 900mm portrait: the usual entry board
- 900 x 600mm landscape: the same board placed sideways to cover a broad fence panel or hoarding
- 900 x 1200mm portrait: a large board for a wide frontage, intended to be legible from the footpath or the road
The Site entry and Logo board layouts come in 600 x 900mm, 900 x 600mm and 900 x 1200mm.
Pick 3mm or 5mm corflute, printing on a single face or both faces, and the optional eyelet option. The Number of Designs option can split one order evenly across up to 10 different designs.

Prices, production and delivery
All printed sign prices are shown including GST and cover 3mm corflute, a single printed face, no eyelets and one design. The Site entry or Logo board layout in 600 x 900mm or 900 x 600mm is $54 for one, $77 for two, or $195 for ten, which is $19.50 per sign. In 900 x 1200mm it is $91 for one. The danger layout or own artwork is $30 for one in 600 x 450mm. In 600 x 900mm it is $39 for one, or $180 for ten, which is $18 per sign. Eyelets on All Edges add $3.50 per sign at every quantity, and the configurator prices every other combination.
